Regulatory challenges for fund managers
While much of the credit crunch has focused on the banking sector, there have been and continue to be impacts on other sectors of the financial services world. In a recent speech Dan Waters, FSA Asset Management Sector Leader, covers:
- a high level overview of the Turner Review, focusing on proposals of relevance and interest to fund managers;
- the FSA view on the appropriate regulatory framework for hedge funds, and (3) comments on two regulatory "business-as-usual" issues for fund managers: producing ICAAPs and managing liquidity in open-ended funds.
For more information on the Turner Review - A regulatory response to the global banking crisis - you can see the review and the accompanying discussion paper. For those with limited time, the speaking notes from the press conference provide a concise overview.
